Rainbow

We picked some pieces of bronze as scrap, planning to melt it down for some casting projects. One afternoon we decided to cut a slice off the end of one and made a bottle opener as a birthday present for a friend. It is perfectly balanced to sit on top of a beer bottle, and the soft bronze will develop a beautiful patina from use.

Everyone who used the prototype in our shop seemed to like it too. So we gave it a name and made an edition of 50 — that’s how much material we had left.
no. 1–10 are fully polished on the machined faces
no. 11–30 are raw “as-machined” finish
no. 31–50 have an applied satin finish

If you’d like a particular number, let us know in the comments section of your order and it’s yours if we still have it. We only have a handful of these left, so if we don’t have the number you want, you’ll have to be happy with whatever number you get.

And we still ended up with a decent bucket of swarf and chips to melt down for casting projects.
